Development czechoslovakian sport since its creation up to 1989

Periodical Czechoslovakian sport was established in 1953. The journal was established by State Committee for Physical Education and Sport. The periodical was a main platform for Physical Education organization until 1989. The Czechoslovakian sport was one of the central media of the communist regime. It was censored and it was also a platform for propaganda. The journal developed and made a progress over the years. Firstly, the Czechoslovakian sport was published twice a week, but eventually it became a daily. In fact, it was one of the top ten dailies in Czechoslovakia. The newspaper circulation was 195 000 copies in 1988. After the velvet revolution the Czechoslovakian sport was transformed to daily Sport. This journal has been published by Ringier ČR.
Ideology in periodicals during 1968 Winter Olympic Games and 1968 Summer Olympic Games

This thesis captures the events of the X Olympic Winter Games 1968 and Games of the XIX Olympiad 1968 in context of historical background of political and social evolution in Czechoslovakia from perspective of their that time's presentation manner in the period printed media. It describes basic ideology principles focusing on socialism and communism, 1968 historical context in Czechoslovakia focusing on Warsaw Pact military invasion of the land in August that year, also start and origins of the Olympic movement. The second part of this thesis deals with both 1968 Olympic Games from perspective of the czechoslovakian attendance and brings main related topics turned up in the period periodicals closer. The analysis itself refers to two journals with big social overlap and sport and political theme - they are Československý sport and Rudé právo. The analysis has tried to pointed out the ideological elements in the media contents of the journals which features the Olympic Games, also the Olympic movement thoughts or local political situation. The analysis has further brought summary of how much the journals reported about the 1968 Olympic Games closer, if so and how this kind of media reflection in case of the 1968 Winter Olympics in France and the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico differs from each other...
How Did Sport Journalism Change in Czechoslovakian Press after 1948? Comparing Periods 1945-1948 and 1953-1958

Master's thesis called How Did Sports Journalism Change in Czechoslovakian Press after 1948? Comparing Periods 1945-1948 and 1953-1958 deals with the development and comparison of sports journalism in post-war Czechoslovakia and through the qualitative content analysis of three selected sports periodicals (Ruch v tělesné výchově/Ruch v tělovýchově a sportu, Stadion, Československý sport). Research focuses on media reports, graphic and language changes and organizational development of the periodicals. Secondary subjects are the fate of selected editors, the post-war development of the Sports Journalists Society and the unification of physical education movement. The author used the rich archive material of individual editions of sports periodicals and sources from the National Archives. Secondarily he used the review literature on media development and journalism after World War II, using historical monographs to analyze the historical context that is absolutely crucial to understanding post-war developments in Czechoslovakia and the press.
The death of ice-hockey player Luděk Čajka as reported in chosen periodicals

This bachelor's thesis deals with the tragic death of ice-hockey player Luděk Čajka and especially with media coverage of this incident. Čajka was a talented defender playing for the Czechoslovak club TJ Gottwaldov (TJ Zlín since 1990). His up-and-coming career was interrupted in January 1990 during a league game in Košice when he was injured after slipping on the ice and crashing into the boards behind the goal. His fatal neck injury led to his death in hospital forty days later. This bachelor's thesis aims to find out how Czechoslovak printed media reported about the whole case. Three newspapers were chosen for the study - The Mladá fronta (nationwide general daily), The Československý sport (nationwide sports daily) and The Naše pravda (local general periodical). The contents of all of these newspapers were analysed and after that the ascertained results were compared among themselves. The thesis is made up of three main chapters. The first one focuses on Čajka's career, on the fateful game in Košice as well as later events and also mentions a similar, more than forty years older, accident of Czechoslovak ice-hockey player Vladislav Müller. Comparison of media interest in czechoslovakia/czech athletes at the summer olympic games in Ciudad de México in 1968 and London in 2012

The main goal of this bachelor thesis, "Comparison of media interest in Czechoslovakia/Czech athletes at summer Olympic Games in Ciudad de Mexico in 1968 and London in 2012", is to compare the media interest in Czechoslovakia and Czech athletes in Československý sport, Sport, Mladá fronta, Mladá fronta Dnes, Rudé právo a Právo newspapers, during two summer Olympic Games concretely the one in Ciudad de México (1968) and in London (2012). The quantitative content analysis was used to find out how much of the space was given to our athletes in each kind of newspapers. I made the comparison of those two years and also the comparison of every each newspapers. Results of the analysis shows the differences and progress in the sports journalism.
